Coin Op on CD now available via the web for FREE!

Back in 1995, I wrote a book on antique coin operation machines. This book was distributed on a CD Rom. I have decided to put this book up on the web. In it you will find information on hundreds of machines. Everything from Slots, to arcade, to music.

The are also dozens of articles written by the late Dick Bueschel (and a few other well respected dealers and collectors) as well as videos of some very rare machines.

The CD version also has a price guide and a directory listing. These aspects of the book are not available on the web version.

Welcome to the new home page for Dave Burritt. The URL of my web page pretty much says it all. I BUY OLD SLOTS. I don't sell them or buy other stuff.

If you have an antique slot machine please let me know (send an email to Dave@IBuyOldSlots.com or give me a call at 303 465 4664). If I am not interested in it I can probably put you in touch with other collectors or dealers who are. I like original untouched machines but will consider others.

If you are looking for a fancy web page with lots of blinking icons and all that then look elsewhere :-). I have better things to do (like look for and restore slot machines) then design or pay someone to build a fancy web page.

I am a slot collector 99% of the time and a dealer the other 1%. I am mainly looking for machines for my own collection. There is a pretty tight knit of collectors & dealers that I know who are also looking for machines. A lot of these individuals do not have a web presence and don't want one.  If you have a machine that is for sale and I am not interested I probably know a reputable dealer or collector who is.

The machines I am looking for are primarily pre 1940 Watling, Jennings, Mills, Caille, and Pace machines. However, if it pays out coins and is not a reproduction machine then I am interested no matter who the manufacturer is.

I do not buy ANY reproduction slot machines or Japanese Pachislo machines. Pachislo machines are cheap plastic junk and reproduction (sometimes referred to as re-manufactured) machine have zero appeal and value since they are brand new machines.

I also restore slot machines but my current backlog is about 5 years so I am not taking on any more projects at this time.

If you are wondering what happened to the classified ad section then quit looking. I have removed it. I offered the free classified ads for 7 years. However, due to the action of a couple of individuals I have decided to discontinue it. It was a LOT of work keeping it up to date and I no longer have the time or, frankly, the desire to continue it.

Below is a list of antique slot machines that are being sought by several collectors throughout the USA (primarily me).

If you have an antique slot machine that you would like to sell (or simply would like more information on) feel free to send me an email. If you have a reproduction (sometimes called remanufactured) then please be advised that I am not interested in it and neither are the collectors & dealers that I know. Reproduction machines have no value to me at all.

The following machines are what I (or other collector friends) are looking for. Some of them are rare, several are not all that rare (e.g., Rol-A-Tops) but I just happen to like them.

Watling Rol-A-Top (all models)
Watling Rol-A-Tor (all models)
Dice machines that payout, specifically
    Mills Dice Machine
    Buckley Bones Dice Machine
    Bally Reliance Dice Machine
    Western Novelty Mysterious Eye
Jennings Prospector (or Monte Carlo)
Jennings Witch (has a witch & cat on front castings)
Jennings Sun Chief
Caille Aristocrat Counter Roulette
Caille Peerless Roulette
Pace Bantam with side vendor
Pace Kitty
Pace Royal Comet
Pace Royal Comet Twin
Fey Liberty Bell

Mills Liberty Bell
Floor Wheel style machines
All Baseball themed machines
All machines which dispense golf balls (instead of money)
All machines which have some kind of a candy vendor on them
All counter wheel style machines
All cast iron machines (if a magnet sticks to it then it is cast iron).

If you have any of the above machines, and would like to sell it, please give me a call at 303 465 4664 (please leave a message if I am not in) or send me an email. It is impossible to state a price on a web page for each of the above machines since condition, among other things, can cause the value to vary greatly. In general, I will usually pay about 80% of book value (if I wanted to pay 100% of book value, I would just buy the machine from a dealer). Most antique dealers will pay 25% - 50% of book value. There is nothing wrong with that, after all, they usually have to clean the machine up, haul it to shows, and guarantee it when they sell it. In addition, they have to eat so making a profit on the items they acquire is perfectly reasonable.

For some machines I will pay 100% (or more) of book value. I  prefer machines that are all original and have not been restored. However, machines in any condition will be considered. I pay a premium for machines out of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, North & South Dakota, and Colorado because these machines are typically in better shape due to lack of humidity.

I do something that no other dealer or collector does. I actually will SHOW you the blue book listing for your machine (yes, there is a Blue Book on antique slot machines). That way, everyone is on the same page. Most dealers say I am crazy for doing this. However, doing so, usually ends up in me getting the machines I really want.

If you have a machine that is not listed, then I may still be interested in it. Feel free to send me an email or give me a call. If I am not interested in it then I probably know a reputable dealer/collector who is. I refer machines to other dealers & collectors weekly and about 90% of the time, the person I refer you to ends up buying the machine. We know that a lot of dealers have a web presence and the only way to get a machine is to offer a reasonable price. One word of caution, most reputable collectors detest E-Bay. E-Bay is a dumping ground for a lot of pure junk (just do a search for "Golden Nugget". 99% of the Golden Nugget machines out there are fakes). In addition, there has been fraud committed on E-Bay and a lot of collectors don't even bother looking there any more (including me). If I offer you a price on a machine and you then decide to list it on E-Bay then that is your right. However, my offer will then become null & void and if your machine does not sell don't come back to me because, odds are, I will no longer be interested in it."

If you are a collector and actively looking for a machine. Feel free to send me an email and I will put you on my list. I reserve the right to exclude those dealers/collectors  who I don't feel are reputable. Don't bother sending me an email saying something like "Interested in all machines that are dirt cheap". I don't buy machines at low ball prices, and therefore can't sell them for low ball prices. When I do sell machines, they are not dirt cheap, but are priced fairly. If you are a dealer and would like to get on my lead referral list or my list of dealers I refer people to who are looking to purchase machines then send me an email. If you buy or sell reproduction machines then don't bother. If you plate machines which are not supposed to be plated, then don't bother. If you have a bad reputation then don't bother. I am VERY selective on who I choose to refer people to.

I would also be happy to answer questions about your machine (even if it is not one of the ones listed).

Advice on buying a slot machine

If you are looking to buy a machine then let me know and I will refer you to dealers who are reputable. You need to be VERY careful when buying a slot machine. I would advise you to not buy from anyone who sells Pachislo or reproduction (remanufactured) machines. In addition, I would never buy a machine that has been gold plated or chrome plated (unless the machine was originally plated (e.g., late model Jennings machines)). Some people will gold plate Mills Roman Heads and Watling Rol-A-Tops. These machines were never plated in their original state and the castings were not designed to be plated. If people really want to destroy a machine they will BRASS plate it (YUCK!)."

If they have a fancy web page and are advertising "Golden Nugget" machines then odds are they are peddling reproduction machines. They may also say they have original machines, but I ask you, how do you know? Unless you are in the business, you may end up buying a machine for thousands of dollars and end up with a machine that has zero value as an antique. Reproduction machines are easy to spot to the trained eye, but difficult to spot by people who are not collectors.

One of the first things on a reputable dealers web page should be a statement like "WE NEVER BUY OR SELL REPRODUCTION MACHINES". If such a statement is not there, then be very careful.

Current Slot Machines that I have for sale

My collection has been been referred to as the black hole. Once a machine enters it, it never comes out. However, sometimes I do sell a machine (usually when I am out of room). The last time I sold any machines was 1999 (I think). Below is a list of what I have decided to sell.

Currently, I have no machines for sale.

If you are a collector and have something really unusual or desirable then let me know. Perhaps we can do some horse trading (so to speak).
